Flames

Lyrics

Lifetimes ago
a yearning so
strong in its longing
dreamt of becoming
sparklets of light
in the vastness of night

and we're the light that's traveled far
and we were made inside of stars

and so I swirled
to one last life
on one more world
with no less strife

and now we're two
that once we're one
inside the palace, of a sun

and if they told us so
we still wouldn't know
our dreamt of love
from the stars above

and we were born inside of stars
and we're the light that's traveled far

Flames moves through the idea of forgotten beginnings — of light becoming form, and of unity slowly learning separation. It imagines existence as a long journey: from an original wholeness, through countless lives and worlds, into the fragile intensity of individual experience.
